Poetry at the Art Museum

A Poetry Workshop at the UQ Art Museum, exploring word + image

23 April 2018 10am – 4pm

You’re invited to spend a day at the UQ Art Museum writing poetry in response to art, learning about ekphrastic poetry, and creating collages incorporating your poetry. You will also have the opportunity to display your work at the Zine fair to be held at the UQ Art Museum (12-13th May). No experience required; all welcome.

Cost: $100       Students/unwaged: $75. Collage materials provided.

Programme

10.00 – 11.00  Introduction to poetics and ekphrastic poetry

11.00 – 11.30 Outline of the current exhibitions at the UQ Art Museum

11.30 – 12.30  Writing poetry in response to artworks in the gallery

12.30 – 1.30 Lunch break. [Note lunch is not included in course fee. Participants are welcome to bring their own; alternatively, a range of cafés will be open at UQ.]

1.30 – 3.30 Collage workshop – this will be a hands-on experience using a range of materials to create collages incorporating your poetry.

3.30 – 4.00 Sharing the finished collages, reflections and cleanup.
